This UV light strikes the molecules of the target gas, providing enough energy to ionise them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Detection<\/strong>: ionised molecules produce ions and free electrons. These ions are collected by an electrode, generating an electric current.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Measurement<\/strong>: The intensity of the electric current is proportional to the concentration of the target gas in the air.
